Some of her basic features and specs:

Fine Lion is a 2001 Catalina 42.  She is a two cabin model with a centerline berth in the owners’ stateroom forward.  That was clearly one of the major buying points.  The 42 is the 4th. sailboat that Steve has owned, and we are very happy with her.  The C42 has proven to be a fast comfortable coastal cruiser.  In truth, she can take more than we care to take.  We know that when we get into conditions beyond our "plans", we have a sailboat that has the capability to deliver us safely to our next harbor.  Her design is well thought out, and is easily handled by the two of us.  We've spent enough time on Fine Lion to know that when we start cruising for extended periods, we will do so in comfort and safety.

Our non-sailing friends always ask, "how many will she sleep".  To true sailors, that is an irrelevant question.  Who really wants to spend time on a boat loaded to capacity?  All boats can hold more people than is comfortable.  So our stock answer to that question is that Fine Lion is a "12...6...and 4".  That means, she will handle 12 for cocktails, 6 for dinner, and 4 for sleeping.  So far, that formula has worked.  That's why we have a two cabin, two head sailboat.  It "fits" our lifestyle.  We also chose the two cabin model for the added storage versus the three cabin version.  Storage capacity is always valuable for cruising.  The centerline model is obvious.  No one likes a knee in the side of the head in the middle of the night.  And Catalina provides inner spring mattresses for both cabins.  Very comfortable!  It brings new meaning to being "off watch".

While Fine Lion is a production boat, we have added an extensive list of accessories for navigation, safety, creature comforts, and entertainment.  After all, cruising doesn’t mean “roughing it”.

This is the boat that we're taking to the islands this winter.  That's why we made certain decisions when we outfitted her.
