| We had friends along the way! |
Our 2008-2009 Bahamas trip has begun. Yeah, we are so glad to
be on our way to warmer weather.
We left Oriental
on Friday 10/31 and went to one of my favorite spots in NC, Cape Lookout. We traveled with some friends we met last
year in the Bahamas, Mike and Kathy aboard Sapphire. One of the great things about being cruisers is the people you
meet. It is such a breath of fresh air to be around people that have no concern about what you did in your past
life. All they care about is if you make a good appetizer or not. If you do not make a good appetizer you are
likely to not get invited back to their boat. Just kidding.
I believe Steve and I were so happy to be on the boat again it would not have taken much to entertain us. We
were fortunate enough to see more dolphin than we have ever seen at one time. We must have been traveling through a
school of fish. The dolphin were on both sides of the boat as well as jumping through the wake at the bow of the boat.
Very cool!
There is absolutely nothing in my opinion
as beautiful as looking at the water when the sun shines on it in just that way that makes it look like there are diamonds
dancing on top of the water; or watching the sun set over the water. I guess I have just missed being on the boat.
We left Cape Lookout at dark thirty (5:00 a.m.) on Saturday morning and
arrived in Charleston on Sunday afternoon. The trip was very mild, we had to motor most of the way, the weather was
nice on Saturday, warm enough for shorts. Sunday was a real reminder of why we are heading south for the winter, it
was very cold.
We are now in a slip in Charleston
and will be here at least until Thursday, to wait out a storm. I can think of worse places to be stuck due to weather.
Till later…
